Well, I thought I'd go through the 102 or so comments posted before yours and
summarize them for you, ordered by their frequency and anti-Microsoftness:

It's because of Microsoft's lousy technology: 30
It doesn't work (or it doesn't work well): 15
Other people have bigger databases, so I'm not impressed: 8
Incomprehensible rambling: 3
Jokes (mostly at Microsoft's expense): 6
Microsoft is evil: 1
The Borg is coming, and its name is Gates: 1
It would be great to periodically slam MS servers: 1
That would be childish, it would be easier to ping flood: 1
The USGS uses Linux, and this is because of Microsoft's lousy tech: 1
You guys are Microsoft dupes who deserve to be buttfucked by BillG: 1
Most bigger databases aren't on the Web: 1
Other people have bigger databases; they work on non-MS tech: 1
Microsoft is stupid because it doesn't work: 1
Works fine here: 1
It's slashdot's fault: 1
It's Wired's fault: 1
It's the fault of Yahoo, Wired, and slashdot: 1
It's a combination of slashdot's fault and Microsoft's lousy tech: 1
The number of keys in a DB is more important than the number of bytes: 1
It makes my browser get bigger: 2
Here's where you can find better equivalents: 3
One of the better equivalents sucks: 1
We're sorry it sucks; here are the parts that don't: 1
Poor Legato and StorageTek: 1
Sometimes Slashdot is laggy, this is a good stress test for SQL server: 1
Why is the white paper only available as a self-extracting executable: 1
IE works, Netscape doesn't: 2
Let's add a feature to Mozilla that lets it pretend to be MSIE: 1
Let's not, let's add a feature to Apache to help IE users change to Mozilla: 1
Terraserver's coverage sucks: 1
If it were Linux-powered, no one would complain: 1
Ditto, but who ever switched from Linux to MSOSes?: 1
It worked OK on Sunday, and it was cool: 1
Not all Linuxers are obsessed with MS hate: 1
Microsoft blocks ICMP packets: 2
Chip Richards's post, which is too complex to summarize in one line: 1
Unix boxes are hard to set up, NT ones aren't: 1
That's not true: 1
MS put this up to show off their software, that's why we make fun of it: 2

About a third of them can be summarized as "It's because of Microsoft's
lousy tech". Perhaps another fifth are clearly anti-Microsoft. The
rest (about half) aren't any such thing.
